Ahead of the OnePlus 6 launch, OnePlus pits it against top smartphone cameras in a blind test

A lot has been written about the OnePlus 6, its launch date, its design, its hardware and how fast it is going to be -- The Speed You Need as the company says -- but so far we haven't seen OnePlus talking about its camera performance. This is changing now. Just a week before the OnePlus 6 India launch, the company on Friday opened a blind test on its site where it is pitting the OnePlus 6 against the phones that are considered the best in camera performance in the premium smartphone industry. In the test, the OnePlus 6 goes up against the Pixel 2, the iPhone X and the Galaxy S9.
All three of competitors -- the Galaxy S9, the iPhone X and the Pixel 2 -- are without doubt among the phones with top quality camera performance and the fact that OnePlus feels confident enough to put the OnePlus 6 in a blind test against them shows that the company believes it can match the best in business.
In the blind test there are four sets of photographs. One shows architecture pictures and another is a set of low light images. Two more sets deal with portrait photos in good light and low light. While there is no clarity as of now as to which photo was clicked by which phone, it is easy to see that all images are pretty good and the minor differences between them are mostly in the way colours are rendered and the details they have.

The OnePlus 6 will be launched in India on May 17th, several hours after its global launch on May 16th. On the same day (May 17th), the phone will also launch in China. In India, the OnePlus 6 will be available for purchase from May 21st and May 22nd in a limited sale. Before that, during Amazon India Shopping fest, which starts on May 13th, OnePlus fans will be able to buy a Rs 1000 Gift Card at the 'Fast AF' saleredeemable against OnePlus 6 purchase later that will give them guaranteed access to the limited OnePlus 6 sale on May 21st and May 22nd.
It is not yet clear what the exact price of the OnePlus 6 will be, but it is expected to be around Rs 35,000 for the variant with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM. The OnePlus 6 will be available with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It will also be available in a special OnePlus 6 Avengers Infinity War Edition. All variants will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
